Academic Privacy Policy & Data Governance
Effective Date: Academic Year 2026-2027 • Last Revised: October 2026
1. Institutional Scope & FERPA Compliance
The Computer Science Student Learning Platform operates as an official university educational service. All student educational records, evaluation marks, quiz attempts, and submission timestamps collected within this platform are strictly protected under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and applicable institutional privacy regulations.
2. Information Collected
We collect only the minimum necessary data to support academic instruction:
- Directory Details: Full Name, Institutional Email, Student ID Number, Department, and Current Semester.
- Academic Performance: Quiz attempts, submitted option choices, time taken per assessment, and passing status.
- Technical Security Logs: IP address, user-agent string, and session duration for fraud prevention and audit logging.
3. Edge Storage & Encryption Standards
All data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.3 over HTTPS. Database records reside on Cloudflare D1 edge database instances with zero third-party telemetry. User passwords are salted and hashed using bcrypt; passwords are never accessible in plaintext by instructors, administrators, or engineering staff.
4. Third-Party AI Services Policy
The platform integrates the Groq Llama 3.3 API strictly through backend proxies for faculty question generation. No personal student identifiers, grades, or transcripts are ever transmitted to external artificial intelligence providers.
